  1. So here is what I have so far. Engine will not start now feels like its flooded. So I turn fuel pump off and it at least tries to start Too much fuel - 12% (old FPR) 14% (other FPR) co2 Possible Problems Sensor: Water temp MAF Air temp Fuel temp Mechanical: Pressure regulator Air leak Timing Electrical: Alternator ECU All 6 cylinders have the same symptoms of carbon fouling on the spark plugs and emissions are exactly the same on both exhausts. I have tried different maf's although there is always a chance they are all faulty Tried different FPR but emissions went up and no change Fault code reader says no faults Have ordered another 2 Maf's and an aftermarket FPR to try and fit in Today I have left the battery connected as zerorace mentioned later ecu's have bad memory ( normally I isolate battery) Later will try and see what happens (if anything) This is most irritating problem Anything I may have left off?
  2. Phew. Thought I was missing a vital engine part. Ive swapped the maf's already. Odly enough when I changed the fuel regulator the emissions were worse at 14% but it did start on its own. Now the old one is back on it wont start and when it did the emissions were back to 12%? There I something strange going on for sure. Just ordered 2 more maf's and found out that ford no longer supply spare fuel pressure regulators.
  3. Sadly no it was just the engine on its own. I don't think the 2.9 v6 has a map sensor does it?
  4. Anything is worth a try. It's worth saying though that all 6 spark plugs are carbon fouled so its something generic to all 6 I think
  5. Ok so unless my other fpl is bad then it's not that. Out of interest how much fuel should the fuel rail hold? Also got fault code reader and no faults at all! I'm officially stumped.
  6. After a quick chat with richyb66 I'm going to try changing the fuel, pressure regulator and see what happens. Then hopefully my fault code reader will show up and tell me something new! Lucky for me I have another engine to rob parts off
  7. It's got 3" pipes with piper cross filters and standard EEC IV ecu.
  8. Does the same with and without the filters attached
  9. Just tested water temp sensor and its fine. Took fuel pressure reg vac pipe off and it made little difference. Co2 came down to 11 then back up to 12 again. Also getting hard to start it up
  10. It sounds like a sierra when running. Can sometimes be sluggish to rev up and down Idle seems ok but difficult to tell
  11. After finally getting the sump back on (Still leaking though) I have discovered that the chain tensioner is hydraulic and now working properly. (Although I now have other problems)
  12. Hi all. I have a ford 2.9 cologne engine in my rh2b (No IVA). I took it for an emissions test yesterday and it read 12 on the testers gauge. No matter what he did to the maf mixture screws the reading did not alter. It was the same reading on both sides (v6). It is running very rich and blows out black smoke when revved (You can also smell it's rich). It's not done this before only recently. Any ideas are welcome.
  13. Yep not attached. Luckily I've not ran it much and never turned a wheel. It's a 12v v6
  14. Had the sump off today and found the pickup pipe hanging off! Hopefully this is the cause of the noise. (No oil the the tensioner) just need to find out if the tensioner is fed by oil.
  15. I will try and check it out. It may be oil pump related then. The dizzy did move just before it started making the noise. The pump driveshaft is still there though.
  16. When I fire my timing light at the mark the timing line does jump a little forward and backwards? Not a lot though. I've not let it get to temperature to properly do timing as noise is not nice! Would this cause the noise?
  17. How would I know if my timing chain tensioner has gone? My engine has now got a loud rattling noise from the front and won't rev at all, just stalls? It used to run fine although timing was out a little. Just sent my iva paperwork off as well.
  18. Thanks everyone for the advice. A lot of food for thought. Phil I might take you up on your kind offer as I have a bad habit of not being able to cut in straight lines
  19. Hi everyone, What is the best way to cut my 2b bonnet to make a scuttle? Is it angle grinder or nibler or saw? any ideas welcome. Also how long should I make the scuttle?
  20. Hi there, I am in the middle of my build and am finding that the steering column will probably foul the exhaust manifold. Is there any way to make or modify one?
  21. I'd have to measure it but it must be around 20 - 30mm od
  22. Does anyone have any ideas how best to shorten this v6 pick up pipe. Needs to be about 40mm so I can't' just cut it and weld a bit lower. Any help would be appreciated.

    Short Sump

Anyone in the Coventry area know where I can get my 2.9 cologne sump shortened?
  24. Actually it's from an xr4x4. I found a flywheel on ebay in the end(which seems to be where most of my parts are coming from) Thanks for the information though and I'm sure that I'll need to get more capri stuff in the future. Chris
