Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club
The Committee would like to congratulate Heritage Insurance on their 60th Anniversary in 2025
It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.
The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.
The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !
So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

Winter rebuilds..

Now that our kit car has finished its season and is away hibernating.
I need some ideas on what we should do next, there’s always something to do to it!
We have
added a Hifi
soundproofing
changed the suspension
added the spoiler
upgraded the firewall
changed the wheels.
we also have a slight issue with rain coming in with our soft top. What are people doing to prevent this?
East England meets for September

That was a close thing, we only just managed to meet up before September ran out, We went to Burghley House in Stamford for a picnic as the weather was glorious. It's one of our favourite places to park up as they don't charge for parking. And as you can see from the picture it wasn't busy (To be fair, we always go in the overflow car park and the main park did have a fair number of cars left). So it was very peaceful.
This is probably our last picnic, from next month we will probably go to cafes/garden centres unless we get more unseasonally warm days.

electric robinhood 2b
Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone has built a kit as electric at first registration as opposed to converting an existing registered car
I'm considering it but trying to get any direct answers from the dvla about what particular hoops they would want me to jump through seems impossible
and i don't want to spend the time and money just to find out it's prohibitly expensive, so if anyone has any insight or knowledge on the subject I'd love to hear it
i have already done an electric conversion of a BMW Z3 https://zroadster.org/threads/z3-ev-conversion.53049/
Thanks

Norh East Area September Meeting on Tuesday 30th from 7pm

Our September meeting is on the last day of the month at the Church Mouse, Chester Moor DH23RJ. As usual all are welcome. Hopefully the weather will be favourable so we have a good turn out of cars, as this is usually the last meeting for a lot of owners to bring out their cars before taking them off the road for the winter. Hopefully you will be able to attend,Alan
Sell as is, or break for parts?

After 10+ years & still not getting my hood finished (various other projects, hobbies, house renovation etc) & now another house & barn to renovate I've come to the decision that I need to let go of the idea of ever finishing it.
Do I cut my losses & risk selling on eBay (with a reserve so I don't totally lose out) or do I break it.
It's an 85% complete series 3A so not most ideal to get through an IVA (all the common issues where strengthening/bracing etc that are required has been done).
Engine alone is probably worth more than I would get on eBay for the entire car (2.1 pinto, big valve ported head, race cam, lightened & balanced, new twin 45 DCOE's (well new when I fitted them several years ago in the build process), oil cooler, high torque starter motor
Good low mileage type 9 5speed gearbox.
Cobra seats with brand new unused 4 point harnesses
New brakes all round (including focus rear disc conversion)
Focus wheels (4 fitted with new Toyo Proxes & 4 spares)
Correctly marked laminated windscreen
All new track arms, rod ends, bushes & tie rod conversion.
Earliest Westfield 7?
Someone is running an ‘L’ suffix registered Westfield in pre 74 competitions and I’m not sure they existed back then?
I understand some could carry an older reg of the donor vehicle, but it’s 1400 Vauxhall engined.
The Mot history shows it first registered in October 1972, is it likely to be above board and legal?
