  • Welcome to RHOCaR - The UK Kit Car Club

The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year.
The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.

It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.

The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.

The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !

So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

East of England Meets for June

    alanrichey
    By alanrichey,

Now that Malvern has gone it's time to go local again.  And we need to make the most of this weather.   So we don't need a cafe/garden centre anymore, we can start having a picnic again.

While I was walking round Rutland Water yesterday I found some 'hidden' car parks that are well off the beaten track.   Not only are they quiet, at £3/day they are cheaper than the main ones (£4 for less than 2 hours).   And even better news is that the pay machines are broken so at the moment parking is free  (but bring 3 x £1 coins just in case they fix them over the weekend).

So let's go for 13:00 on Tuesday 13th for our first summer meet.  Don't forget to bring chairs and food/drink.  I'll provide the weather.

Here's the location, just take the South road at the Barnsdale crossroads, go past the Hotel, turn left at the bottom and follow the road to the car parks.  Unfortunately there are sleeping policeman on the road but they are relatively gentle.

    Everyone welcome

    Stamford Car Show - 27 August 2023

    alanrichey
    By alanrichey,

I see that registration for the Show has now opened.    Those of us who have been before should have received their invitations by now.    Based on past attendance, we are normally allocated a Club Stand, but as only 2 of us attended last year, that may not happen this year.

The other problem is that it clashes with the "Cars at the Farm' meet.    However, for those of us (like me) who intend to just go to that meet for the Saturday, you can go to Stamford on the Sunday to make a full weekend of it.

The numbers are limited so if you do decide to go I would get in early.   You can register at https://stamfordcarshow.co.uk/  Remember to fill in the "Club" box so that we can maintain the Club Stand. (Still uses the Robin Hood name)

For those who haven't been before, it's a nice Show held right in the middle of Stamford (Voted "Best Place to Live" a few years ago) so you can wander round the town as well as looking at the cars.

While entry is nominally free, the event is run for charity and they suggest a £5 donation on entry to the field.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.

    See you there 😀

    Al

    By nelmo,

If anyone is free on June 24th, please join me at the CSUK Cars and Coffee event. I've never been before, so no idea what goes on but it's only £6 (tickets MUST be bought in advance), so no huge loss if its rubbish and gets you out for a bit 😉

    Book here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/csuk-charity-cars-coffee-tickets-646231635217

If anyone fancies meeting up so we can go in together, please let me know.

Hope to see some of you there 😇

    Worcester kit car show

    Kerry
    By Kerry,

With the lack of events Secretary to organise this event unless someone would like to arrange to get food and drink its not worth taking the Club BBQ. It may be worth taking a Club gazebo and Club flags to promote the club.
I believe Matt Brown has some of the equipment and would be willing to take it with him as long other members are willing to assemble it.
Please post your thoughts and suggestions.

    South West Area Meetings

    Robbie 2B
    By Robbie 2B,

    Hi All

After sending this out to the members in the South Western region I thought that other areas and community users may be interested.  The following meetings are proposed.

    1.  Date: Sunday 11 June 2023, Time: 12:00, Location: The Windmill Inn, 58 Nore Road, Portishead BS20 6JZ

After a bite to eat a run through to Clevedon would be on the agenda. If you want to come along in your tin-top feel free.

    2.  The Powderham Classic Car gathering is taking place on the 8th & 9th July 2023 at Powderham Castle near Exeter.  RHOCaR have been given the opportunity to have a stand at the gathering.  For Car Clubs there will be a cost of £17.00 for each vehicle which includes the driver and one passenger.  There is also space allocated for a Car Club gazebo.  Camping is available on site for Friday & Saturday night, this would have a cost of £40 per pitch.  For people not camping the Car Club entry and exit gate will be shut on both days from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.  The event is run by volunteers from the Crash Box & Classic Car Club. Further information can be found on their website: https://historic-vehicle-gathering.info/

Please note that the cost of £17 for car, driver and passenger is significantly less than the entrant fee of £13 per person for each day or £20 weekend pass per person.

If anyone is interested in attending as an exhibitor you could let me know and I will include them when I complete and submit the application form. If this could be done prior to 2 June 2023 it would be ideal..  I will complete and submit the form.

    3.  A further meeting, to take place after the summer holidays, will be posted.  This possibly being in the Dorset region to give people in that part of the southwest region a chance to attend.

    Best regards

    Robbie (SW Area Sec.)
