i am after a starter ring gear to fit onto a flywheel of a vintage tractor

(it was originally hand crank start)

 

anyone know of anything that has ring gear of about 24 inches, with a width of idealy 3/4"

pitch is unimportant

 

have done a search but no-one seems to list sizes, and we dont realy want to go custom made

come on give us a clue and i'll look in our parts bin, if you got a more precise size i could measure some of the machines at work and find a match

its an old field marshall something or other....

not mine but a mates

 

the od of the flywheel is spot on 24" something that small crosssectionally would expand a lot when warmed

 

 

apparently when this thing was new the electric start option was half the price of the tractor

 

anyways he has hurt his back and is unable to start it by hand

he has the original drawings and is in the process of making a lookalike.

the rest of it is basic engineering.
