Many thanks

The small spade is field and goes to the warning light then on to 12v switched by the ignition switch. The other two large spades are linked internally and go directly to the battery

Early zetecs could have a Bosch alternator with two bolts, marked B+ and D+, battery and ign light respectively or Motorcraft/Mitsubishi with a B+ bolt and three pin plug. If there are any markings on the plug try these.

Ign light........ D, L, WL, 61

I don't think any had the Lucas (two big spade one little) three pin connector Chris but I may be wrong.

At some point Ford changed over to charge circuit control from the ECU which makes them unusable in a kit.

They are 90Amp output and I would suggest something older and smaller like nissan/rascal one.
