Nut Sizes And Thread?

Featured Replies

Hello

Does any one know what the size and thread of the nuts required for both the track control arm to the hub and steering rack are?

I want to replace my castle nuts with nylocs, have tried various Metric size nuts, 10 and 12 I think but the thread appears to be wrong are they imperial?

Or am I best off taking the car to the garage to fit the wire to the castle nuts?

Thanks

Mike

HI,

I think you will find they are metric but the fine thread.

Woz

The sierra steering rack track rod ends to upright are M10 x 1mm.

Offer up a smaller metric bolt to find the correct pitch.

a M5 metric course (standard) pitch is 0.8,

M6 is 1mm

M8 is 1.25mm

M10 is 1.5mm

M12 is 1.8mm pitch.

Any decent fastener (engineerin) supplies should stock them.

Hope this helps.

I bought one of those cheap tap & die sets off ebay and it had a thread pitch guage for metric and imperial. probably the best bit of the kit. Cost about a tenner.

I have found that 10M x 1 nuts are really hard to find, but when I eventually found them they were not the ones for the job. So if anyone needs LMN10 nuts email me.

Are they stainless??

Brass....Was going to use them for the Flexi- brake pipe connections, but wrong size. Eventually went to Ford and they had what I was looking for in stock.
