Alternator Wiring

broke one of the studs on the old alternator and have been given a replacement with the 3 pin connector.

 

can anybody tell me which wire goe's to which pin please

 

colours on loom are (from 91 donor)

 

red

blue

blue white

I assume you are talking about a Lucas alternator with two large and one small terminal in the plug. Red from battery + post goes to the two large terminals, blue from the dash ignition light to the smaller terminal in the plug. The blue white from the carb electric choke is for a six volt supply and there is a separate terminal on the alternator for this. If you dont have an electric choke just insulate its end and tape it off.

Can't see any other terminal for the choke

 

looks like i'll be converting to manual choke
