Is This Rad Any Good?

Hi guys,

I’ve been looking at my RH supplied radiator today and decided to get rid of it and look for a replacement. (It doesn’t fit very well and the pipe connections are a mile out).

I’ve got a MK2 escort rad that my granddad had reconditioned 25 years ago but only kept it as a spare. Its twin core and I believe from a 1300cc. It does seem small but the pipe connections are perfect and it easy fits vertically inside the chassis.

The question is, is it any use? Also would the RH supplied fan be up to the job with this rad?

Many thanks,

Andy

it'll probably be ok, the only way to find out is to try it.

it might be worth having it pressure tested just as a precaution

i used a rad from a 1 litre seat and its fine so the fact its for a 1300 isnt always cause for concern

Ive got the coolman rad on my 1.6 pinto'd 2b and i havent had any cooling problems and i havent even got it cowled in and my fan doesnt even have any surround as i built a custom holder for the fan and motor. So if you cowl your rad in and put a decent fan on i doubt you will get a problem even though it may be a bit smaller. If you have a heater and fan fitted then you always use that in an emergency for extra cooling...
