It has been covered in previous threads so a search will produce an answer, but essentialy a Zetec E engine bolts directly onto a type nine gearbox using the standard bolt holes. Use escort sump, aftermarket sump or modified blacktop or 1800 CVH sump. 1800 mondeo flywheel and clutch together with a capri release bearing (Quinton Hazel Part no CCT133) and you're in business. CVH1800 or DOHC starter. For cheapness use bike carbs but you will need some sort of ECU to control sparks.

No I mean the starter from a late model sierra with the DOHC engine or earlier 1800 CVH engine. Lucas part no LRS 707. (Narrow bodied.)
and the 1800 mondeo flywheel? mondeo zetec engine flywheel and clutch?
Yes, the flywheel, pressure plate and driven plate from an 1800 mondeo zetec engine. Specifically mondeo as the driven plate will have the 1" 23 spline centre hole that will fit the type 9 input shaft. Most 1800 escort zetec clutches have a smaller centre hole that doesn't fit.
what year and engine size capri release bearing?
Can't remember offhand but it is available from any motor factor who deals with Quinton Hazel and they should be able to order under the part no CCT133. (I will look it up. Capri Mk 1 1.6 11/72-12/73, some but not all Mk 2 1.6 Capri 74-78, some but not all Cortina 3,4,5 1.6 and early sierra 1.6 OHC with 4 speed type 3 box. So save confusion and ask for the part by it's part number! Once upon a time I downloaded the QH clutch catalogue.)

I should go back and correct it now for accuracy but then it might make Barry's post look odd but there is/was a brain slip 23/25 in my post. I knew that last night and then forgot to go back and correct it. Just like I have driven the car several days running without brake lights because the little tab that works them got bent when adjusting the balance and I keep on forgetting to hook it up again. Then it's only when I start feeling following motorists getting too closewhen I brake I suddenly remember no brake lights. Problem is I need to bend up a tool and can't do it on the spot. Then by the time I get home I've forgotten again. Sort of groundhog alzheimers.

Mondeo 1800 blacktop engine is nice but 20 hp less than a 2 L. Cost is similar. You can easily get an 1800 flywheel and you would be buying a new clutch anyway. You can never have too much power. Type 9 box from an earlyish sierra but the MT75 from later sierras will also fit (different clutch bits needed and it's a bigger but stronger box).

Release bearing for type 9 box. See above. I'm not going to type it out a third time although typing I'm not going to type it out a third time is obviously more time consuming than just typing the number I do feel that you have to work with me here and read the above posts. :search:

Use this link. All the info you need is there.

A very helpful site with loads of excellent information apart from the clutch information being wrong in parts. Escort and Mondeo flywheels are interchangeable so no problem fitting either. The lower power 1800 escorts come with an IB5 gearbox with 7/8"x 20 spline input shaft so the driven plate does not fit. High power escorts come with MTX75 box 1" x 23 spline as does the 1800 Mondeo so the driven plate is OK. The CCT132 release bearing is too short and will not work with the 1800 flywheel and pressure plate. If using the FWD stuff you have to use the CCT133 release bearing. If you have the 1800 flywheel and have it drilled for a 2000 pinto clutch pressure plate and uprated pinto driven plate (a common mod as the 1800 mondeo pressure plate is on the limit and slips easily) then the CCT132 release bearing fits and works fine.

There is a lot of very good information on the linked site posted but not for clutch.
