i've bin looking at a WEBER 48DCOE 99/1 N0 7K SIDEDRAUGHT CARBURETTOR, on ebay and not sure wether to get it for my 1.8 pinto exmo,

Any comments would be apreciated,

Depends on the current state of your 1.8. Cheapest bolt in option is upgrade to a 2.0L with 36 DGAV carb and manifold (or 38 DGAS if you can find one). You can do a little porting as per Dave Andrews article and raise CR by having it skimmed. Then a new cam 285 style and a vernier pulley. Total cost about 250 quid (most of which is the cam) for 115BHP at the wheels and a very fun car. If you want lots more power you have to think if you want to stay with pinto or go for an engine change and lots more money either way.
