Pinto Help!

Any suggestions from anybody please. The problem is as follows:

I have a 205 blocked 2.0s pinto, it is running on a pair of twin 40 dellortos and has an aldon non-vacuum dizzy. I ran the car for about 1900 miles after SVA fine returning good performance and good economy. I then began to experience occassional problems with a bit of hesitation and spluter when rolling onto roundabouts and accelerating generally. The situation continued to worsen so that now when the car is driven it will doabout a mile just fine and then start running on what feels like 2 cylinders. Pushing the throttle during this results in complete loss of firing and an odd sucking sound or the engine stalls. The car is basically undrivable and i am basically confused. I have changed plugs, leads, points, condensor etc but to no effect. I have been told by carb specialist it is the carbs and i have been told be head specialist it is the head.

If anybody has any bright ideas, they will be warmly accepted.

Cheers Chaps,

Chris

Agree with Fred2B. Much more likely to be fuel as you first noted it to be affected by roundabouts. Take it for a run and when it starts to play up coast to a stop (with the ignition off if you have an electric fuel pump). Then lift the tops off the carbs and check for fuel in the float chambers. Should show if the problem is fuel supply or in the carbs themselves. The odd sucking sound is the carbs without the exhaust roar.
