Fuel Filter

Hi Joel,

Standard practice for a bowl filter is that the liquid enters into the bowl and passes through the filter medium and exits out of the central port. This gives the maximum filtration area and allows sediment to collect in the bowl area.

As the filter blocks up the flow is reduced and the back pressure forces the filter element tighter onto the body.

I would interpret this as In at B and Out of A.

I thought that normally they had an arrow to indicate flow direction.

Hi Joel

I believe the answer is B to A

because you can see any foreign bodies in the see through plastic bowl that have been retained by the filter, so when dirty you know it needs replacing.

Hope this makes sense

Andy

And also, if the flow was A-B you could have a problem as the filter clogs up. The pressure build up inside the filter would tend to push the filter medium away from where it is attached, potentially coming away and letting all the crap through.
