In response to Luca V's question I have started a list of required paper work to smooth your way through SVA/IVA and DVLA paperwork.

I had some difficulties getting the correct paperwork together but did get it all together in the end, if i had had a list like this i would have had an easier time.

Gentlemen please add as you see fit.

If we agree perhaps we could make this sticky

V5 of donor car with VIN plates and Chassis numbers removed (this will prevent reuse of your donor documents, VIN number etc). DVLA

Photograph donor dismantling. DVLA & VOSA/SVA

Have documentary proof of proper disposal of donor. DVLA

Photographs of build, some with you in the photograph VOSA/SVA

Recipt for kit car parts/chassis, body etc. from manufacturer of if bought second hand/part built from previouse owner. DVLA

Reciepts of all extra bits and pieces that you buy in the construction of your kit. DVLA

Proof of engine age (easy with any Ford engine except the older American V8's) VOSA/SVA for emissions

Proof of newness of Chassis/kit if you are going for a new registration, get this from the kit manufacturer. DVLA

Proof that engine is new as are all major componants except for one reconditioned part, proof also needed.

Design weights of the finished kit car, get this from the manufacturer of the kit, this is not the actual axle weights of the finished kit car but the total all up maximum weights over the axles that the kit car is designed to cope with, if your over axle weights are more than this the car will fail. (something like 650 rear, 550 front on a 2B) i got a bit close on my Series 3a with 450 rear.VOSA/SVA

For the SVA application you also need to complete and send : -

1) Form SVA1 (SVA1 )

2) Amateur Build Declaration Form (Amateur build declaration )

3) cheque made payable to VOSA (currently £190)

I was advised to send photos showing the major components (as listed in the Am Bld Dec'n).

I sent copy receipts (as some have to be shown to DVLA when registering) - I was advised to declare on the copies that they were "true copies of the originals" and to sign them

For registration the DVLA will require :

1) Proof of ID/address

2)MAC (take a copy as they will take your original)

3)Insurance certificate

4) Form V55/5 "Application for a first licence for a used motor vehicle and declaration for registartion" (available from DVLA - not downloadable - I found it best to complete it at the DVLA so they could assist

[NB Much of this form is left blank]

5) Form V627/1 "Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report" ( Built up inspection report )

6) Fee for First Registaration

7) Payment for VEL

8 ) Receipts for major components

With both of the above you will also need a GREAT DEAL OF PATIENCE AND A SMILE PAINTED ON B)
