Sorry, i am not up on Diodes, transistors and all that stuff.

I am a great fan of KISS. "Keep It Simple Stupid". Fault diagnosis on modern systems is hard enough without adding more variables. I know that by adding resistors and other components can over load some circuits. As I work on customers cars I tend not to go that deep and experiment, It can work out expensive for me if I blow an ECU so I keep it simple.

I suggest you phone Technical wiz kids like DTA, MBE or the like. They are pretty friendly and will help if they can, but they do like to think that there is a sale in it for them.

You do have a good point there Simon, it's very easy to damage modern electronics, even by leaving things disconnected. I like your idea Nigel!

 

If anyone is into electonics though, do have a look at the Megasquirt website you will find it very interesting, and the designers AL & Bruce are very helpful, and very clever!
