Fitting A Prop Shaft

Got the car jacked up in garage. Working from lying on the floor. I have loosened the diff off and it's lying round to give me access to fit my new prop shaft. Prop shaft has only entered the gearbox by about half an inch. What's the best way to get the prop shaft completely home? URGENT!!!!

Put the gearbox in gear to stop the output shaft turning. Then it's just a case of jiggling and rotating the propshaft until it catches on the splines and then push it home.

hi eddie it's not on the splines..... jiggle it round and you'll feel the splines locate.... best done with the car in gear

I had this exact problem, allthough i never put mine in gear to fix it (sounds a good idea), i fitted it and thought i had done a prity good job, i jacked the engine forward to give me some room to play and had the diff mounted, attatched it all up and left happy, went to move the car a few days later to find it was jamed a treat, gave it one hell of a push with a friend and everything poped into place =)
