Is This Necessary?

I have an annoying, very loud beeper when the indicators are activated, inc hazards, but was this necessary for the SVA? I didn't build this car so wonder why on earth someone would fit this?

Hi Darren

Not required for IVA, but you will be amazed by how many times you leave your indicators on with out realizing, even if your self cancel works.

We fitted a buzzer after the first year.

I can understand that people leave their indicators on, and that it is a good reminder, but this thing makes your ears bleed!

I just wondered if it was a SVA/IVA requirement. If it isn't then I'm gonna track it down and kill it :D :D :D

If I drive past houses slowly and put the indicators on, I see people get up and run to their microwaves believing their dinner is ready.

It's gotta go

Given that they are useful it might be worth seeing if a bit of duct tape over the end of it would muffle it to a more useable level first rather than removing it altogether. Usually they are a piezo buzzer and you can make a huge difference by just covering the holes on the front and gain some degre of adjustable volume by partially covering it.

I had to do that with the reversing sensors on the wife's car. I guess I just hate beep beep beep!

Thanks

Hi Darren, just solder a resistor (cost pence) in the 12v supply and that wil quieten it down. Or solder a variable resistor in (such as a volume knob from an old car radio) and then you can simply turn it down.

HTH.
