Clever Honda Advert

I have just seen this Clicky! and as adverts go it is very clever.

 

Wouldn't try it on a 56k as it is about 4mB to download unless you are patient.

 

Not sure about any details but I suspet it has been done in segments, but you never know

 

ps you'll need quicktime installing as well.

could it end up advert of the year ?? evidently it was done in 5 sections and spliced,...... but it still took a week 2 make.

Hi Folks

The Honda advert was done in 2 segments, and took about 8 months to do. there is no computer trickery (apparently). If you look up Honda's website you can order the DVD free it shows how it was done its pretty good.

How DID they make the wheels roll UPHILL ?

 

My eight year old son has been learning about gravity at school and noticed the aparent flaw in the otherwise superb advert.

 

He, of course expects Dad to have the explanation, because Dads know the answer to everything, dont we.

 

Have I missed some vital clue or do they just cheat ?

 

Please help me to maintain fatherly credibility !

Mick,

If you put a big mass in the top of a wheel/tyre and balance it so it sits at the top, it won't take a lot to nudge it and for gravity to pull the mass downwards. As log as the mass at the top of the tyre is greater the mass of the tyre travelling uphill it will work - well at least for half a revolution anyway which in the advert is enough.

 

That is how I understand it anyway.

If you notice they are five spoke alloys, balancing on a single spoke (Un-natural balanced position)... as soon as it's nudged at all, the wheel is tryin to get back to it's stanadrd balanced position, which would be with two spokes at even positions at the bottom. That's my theory anyway!
