Ignition Switch

Thrashed

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

My electrical gremlins continue :80: . I have traced back the problem to the ignition switch. On the switch i have 4 wires soldered on.

Red - 15

Black/Yellow - 50

Yellow - R

Nothing - P

Black - 15

I have no power to pin 50, the black/yellow and as such nothing else is working from the ignition switch.

Does anyone have a diagram of how the ignition switch works? I have managed to find that the power from the battery comes into pin 30 - Red, i guess this then switches depending on key position to 50 and 15 in turn.

I have tested for voltage and nothing at 50 but get 12v+ from 30 and 15 when key is turned. How do i test if the switch is broken?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

mines wired as below mate. I've not used the 1st position switched lives, so removed the cables from the plug.

(2 yellows if i remember correctly, both from 1 plug connection).

First colours are the Sierra colours, and the second ones the zero loom from GBS colours.

Red connect to Brown. (Live feed to ignition switch)

Black/Blue connect to Red/White. (Starter motor)

Black/Yellow connect to White. (switched live feed to fusebox)

HTH, :hi:

Nick.

Thanks Nick

Exactly as i have done mine, but the Black/yellow is dead, no power in any position. Think the ignition switch is knackered.

Cheers

The circuit numbers in most circuit diagrams usually make

50 the solenoid feed (against a spring)

15 the run feed to coil

Are you turning against the spring when checking for 12v at 50?
