Tie Bar Fitting

Engine and gearbox are out, time to fit the tie bars

Brackets made tie bars bolted to the track control arms, big gap.

I can see that the compliance bushes will give enough but I need to set the track control arms and caster, lock the hubs then pull in the tie bars before drilling the tub.

I need some guidance on how to get the geometry close before I take it to be set up

Give Mick (Mower Man) a nudge. He gave me some info on the length of the tie bars to have them made, and this set the placement of the brackets.

I haven't yet driven my car as it's still in a million pieces, but they look like they'll be ok, both at same height and same distance from the wishbone pivot point.

I did put some pics up back in August, look for them to get the idea.

Will pm you mowerman

I have today removed the old anti roll bar, made 2 substantial brackets for each side, one goes under the engine bay floor and up the outside, another the same fits under the engine mount sleds and up the inside, that was a job and a half removing the sleds to slip the bracket with an angled end, then I will bolt through all four layers on the engine bay floor then through the sides, 3 layers + half box for the Rose joints, if it flexes I will run some angle from side to side underneath, that should do it.

The old roll bar that cam off and is now in my pile off bits in the Barn, if it was wood I would have burned it to keep warm

I will have a good look tomorrow, was thinking of a sump guard as the RS200 sump hangs a little lower than the bottom of the bellhousing, I could use a bar across the tub as the forward mount of the guard

Latest on the tie bar fitting...

3 bolts out of 4 (per side) to locate the brackets have been fitted, one on the right exits inside the engine mount box and needs an access hole cutting, one on the left side again exits in the box, hole cut and lock nut on, next problem is one bolt on the left side wants to go straight through a big weld in the box, I don't have a drill hard enough to get through the weld, working on a solution now.

I need to drill through the sleds, engine bsy floor and 2 layers of steel support brackets for 4 securing bolts, that should be fun.
