just ordered these off fleabay, Stainless Steel 5 Slot Louvered Boat Vent

got them for £13 each from a company called RIDE THE WAVES.

they seemed a good price to me,any tips on fitting them ?

2" masking tape and mare the outside edge of the vent.

 

Measure the width of the frame and mark the tape again.

 

1st method... 1mm disc in the angry grinder and cut slowly or you will create heat and dis colour your stainless.

 

2nd method... is to drill the corners and slowly cut along the line with a jig saw.

 

Don't forget measure twice cut once.

no stainless to worry about all painted,should i seal them in too ?

 

i have an air saw or a whizzer ( 1mm disc cutter ) in the garage so whem they come will give it a go.

well they arrived and had 10 mins before work this evening so a few measurements here n there and suddenly i had drilled the corners so lets hope i get it right tomorrow....

i know i might be over doing it with the pics but i like to show my progress

 

those that have fitted these vents,how did you secure them ?

rivets ?

stainless nut n bolts ?

Duncan,

Dpends how you are going to fit them if mounted from under the bonnet I would suggest countersunk stainless rivets that can be filled and repainted to match the bonnet. If fitted externally I would go for normal staianless steel rivets to match the louvers, again personal choice.
