Superspec - Fuel Tank Sender Seal

Hi Folks,

 

Have a slightly leaky sender unit and need to replace the seal. Spoke to Ford dealer and he said that they dont have any size measurements and he is not sure if all Sierra units were the same. Any ideas what size and if I could get one from an aftermarket source to avoid paying the inflated Ford prices ?. Also would you advocate using some form of fuel compatible silicon sealant as well around the edge of the unit to ensure an air tight seal?

If It's a superspec rover 2.0 standard tank I think it was out of a fiesta not a sierra.

Agree with Steve, think the standard tank was from a Fiesta.

Ok thanks. Have a feeling it was a custom tank with more capacity, so will double check, when I remove the sender unit to see if I can identify it from online photos etc.

I had an issue and used some sheet rubber and some sheet cork.

Spread the clamping load from the retaining bolts with some flat bar and have not had an issue since.

The problem was that the tank metal was thin and warped when you tightened the bolts.
