Sierra Uprights

I need to get a pair of uprights for my sierra hubs to top suspension arm. I have the drawings to make some, and I even have a friend who can turn them on a lathe. Can these be made out of a solid bar of aluminum or would it not be string enough?

But there's aluminium, and there's aluminium. Pure aluminium would be too soft, different alloys have different characteristics to suit different uses.

I'm almost scared to suggest it, but......

Ive just fitted a set of RS Jigtec wishbones.

The dummy upper strut they supply is really neat.

They are designed to take the Transit ball joint, if that helps.

Why not call & see if they would supply the struts on their own?

Bob could supply all relevant dimensions, ie length & taper.

Cheers, Bob.

Re HE30

The recommended alloy for structural purposes with good strength & general corrosion resisitance. Vehicles, bridges, cranes. General engineering, tooling plate.

It's a free cutting alloy with a tensile strenght of 240-280 N/mm2 ,of anodising quality with a typical hardness of 100 (Brinell).

above is manufacturers data
