Engine To Low Manifold At An Angle

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a new manifold 4-1 to replace the cast one on my 2.0 pinto now I've just been to fit it and it seems like the engine is a tad low and the manifold fits onto the studs but at an angle ie the top fitting closer than the bottom due to the manifold sitting on the lower chassis tube.

Anyone had this before / any fixing suggestions?

All Incan come up with is raising the engine somehow on the mounts or machining a slanted plate to match the two together.

I've noticed in the 2 years I've had my 2b that the engine has sunk on the mounts over time and the exhaust started catching the chassis, I've just packed the mounts out on the chassis side and it's cured the problem....

Hope this helps

It'll be the plates supporting the engine bending. Check they're still attached at both ends, they were only tacked in place on the outside with 10mm of weld on my car, which had failed.
