Jacking Point

What area do people use for jacking up the rear of their RH? I have been using the chassis where it joins the suspension just forward of the wheel arch. I cant fit my trolley jack under and have to use the scissor jack. Due to the suspension you have to jack it quite high before the wheels lift off the floor. I am considering jacking under the diff then using axle stands where i have been putting the jack. Would this be safe and not damage the car?

Sorry for the super basic question.

Block of wood under the diff is fine.

It is where all the garages jack them up.

I have a couple of bits of 4" x 2" that I drive onto, then I can get the jack under, chock the wheels and jack away.

You have mentioned them but for gods sake ALWAYS USE AXLE STANDS!!

Another good tip if you drive up ramps and then intend to jack the rear onto axle stands put a block of wood as a chock or put a ratchet strap around the wheel and the ramp or you might fine the car chasing you out of the garage as the jack pulls the car off the ramps. Don't ask !!
