Cutting Stainless Steel

As your diagram Al.If you cut against DOR you are cutting with a very sharp lip on the cutting edge.

With DOR as Bob says you are cutting from the flat serface of the metal.

1 mm discs are best on this material. I use them on most cutting jobs for a much neater, easier controlled job.

Just use a little pressure so the cut is clean and the blade doesn't bite.

Use a dreamer for tight bends.

If your blade starts breaking up, you are either to heavy or at the wrong angle to your cut line, trying to bend the blade.

Gloves are good for hand protection if a blade smashes up.

Make sure you cut into nothing else behind side panels.

I want to do the same on mine but very little space under bonnet.

Chassis tubes, engine ancills, looms and cooling pipes are in my way at the moment.

i recently cut a hole in the bonnet for the air filter and i used a Dremel with a diamond cutting disc which i got from a local DIY shop, got about 5 in a pack for a fiver. I was really surprised just how easily they cut through the steel, and as they where small i managed to cut the whole oval shape in one go.
