Fuel Hose

Hi all,

 

Looking for fuel hose/ pipe that can be submersed in petrol. Basically want to extend fuel pick up on sender by a few inches to reach bottom of tank. Thought of silver solder some copper pipe on to extend but thinking hose and stainless jubilee clip may be easier. Any suggestions?

Hose for modern fuels will normally have an inner liner which is resistant, but not necessarily the outer cover. Flurocarbon (Viton) is what you need or a piece of PTFE tube.

Have a look on the bay for certified fuel pipe.

The efin-nol melts any of the incorrect stuff, or swells it so much it blocks itself.

Even your local parts shop should help you.

Make sure you use the correct size clips because if the pipe comes orf, it can be very embarrassin.

Had my sender unit out early last week and found mine had been a bodge job and only just hanging on there.

Cheers guys. I've bought a new sender but the pick up is a little short! I'll have a look around to see what I can get. I've bought all new fuel hose to run from tank to carb but this stuff can't be permanently submerged in fuel!

Be brave mate.

It would make good practice with the braze or silver solder.

Not used a brazing torch for years.

Didn't braze in the end as I thought it may damage the electrical gubbings, so got a piece of ptfe tube. Thanks all for the help.
