Bike Carb advice

Hi all, new to this board as while my car isn't your typical kit car - it is still fibreglass bodied and not something you see everday! However I digress, currently I'm running a 2litre Lancia Beta engine (good old Fiat Twin Cam) running with twin Weber45's. For various reasons these are coming off and I'm replacing with some 38mm CBR600 bike carbs. Ran some GSXR600 ones on my old Zetec no probs. The question is has anyone else got a similar set up and if so can you let me know what main and pilot jet size your running. From memory I think I ran 165 mains before but cannot remember the pilot size but know it was pretty large. Just want a starting point as it's always rubbish with stock jets!"

Thanks all

Morning and firstly welcome to the forum, get some photos up any shape and form of kit car is welcome here!
I’m running bike carbs on my pinto but my set up is far more common although I would maybe try giving a specialist a call and discuss. If you don’t know of any one local to me which is well renowned is bogg brothers based in weaverthorpe near Malton in North Yorkshire. They know bike carbs inside out and also produce custom manifolds if you need one.
also have a search for Danst Engineering very similar company. Hope this helps.

Hi Yep Danst did my original manifold for the Zetec lump. I was loathe to call them as I'm not buying anything and feel a bit cheeky sapping their knowledge for no benefit to their business!

I'm only after a starting point really for the pilots in particular - as they can be dog rough on the standards. What size have you got on the pinto? (the Fiat is only an 8 valver so probably quite similar to the pinto in fuelling)

My experience with Danst has always been very positive.  He is always happy to help.  Might be worth a post on his Facebook page.

Just to say I did contact Danst and they've advised 150 as mains but nothing on the pilots. So will make them 15% larger than standard. One really good item on their FB page is a downloadable document showing the various bike carbs that people  are using, gives spacings and sizes. Thanks for the advice - manifolds being sorted carbs cleaned and we should be good to go shortly! Oh and this is motor!

Nice motor, classic silhouette 👍   Had a chop top pop years back with a V6 up front from a Lexus. Was fun trying to get it to put 280bhp down, and the lack of power steering etc like the zero..... always planned a remote servo for the brakes, but you know!
