Steering Rack

Just got Kit 2weeks ago, 2B SS Plus Pack Managed to fit the floor and wishbones, Now come to fit the rack Z,U,E,S, only (just) shows the fitting of the sierra. Not the plus's. Question is do I just clamp it down or is some sort of rubber mounting needed.

I think that the later 2B plus is very much the same as my 2002 chassis.

It will depend on what rack you've been issued with by RHSC

 

Here's a pic showing how mine is fixed - U bolt and two bolts.

 

Some builders have found it necessary to fit wedges to tilt the rack to get better alignment of the steering shaft

Z,U,E,S is what they have called the videos which they issue with the 2B/4

 

.. apparently named after the dog!

 

So you start with video Z - makes perfect sense

I'd never had quessed that - I have the relative simplicity of A B C & D

Have they learnt to punch the protection tabs out on the cassettes

 

Hang on - if the dog is named after the Greek god then it's Zeus - no wonder people are having problems understanding the videos.

Mind you if they jump around like the ABCD ones - you need to watch all of the tapes before starting as there are some corrections to previously given instructions towards the end.

I've watched them ,,, well half , then used this web site and other peoples fantastic web site, joel's, bill and joey to name a few, there's a link on here somewhere to find them all.

 

With the rack, i had to wedge the front up to get it to turn properly, to severe an angle for the uj otherwise.

Don't you mean ZEUS.

Anyhow fitting the rack, you have a Ubolt left side obvious I hope, right side you need a bracket. A very nice chap sent me one he had spare that I think RHSC supplied, someone also mentioned a MK2 Escort rack mount fits. The brkt is a simple humpback bridge shape made with (guessing) 3mm plate 30mm wide.

I've got my rack fitted now, no need for spacers or wedges just had to tidy up the cut outs a bit and it sits nice and the steering shaft angle is fine.
