Co Limit

Anybody know what the CO limit is for a 1986 pinto? I can't remember if it's 2.5 or 3.5%. I've just fitted twin 40,s and the MOT is on Thursday. Panic? Me? No. Arrgggghhhhhhh!

I think for an '86 engine the co% limit is 3.5%

HC limit is 1200PPM

Good news I had the same question and the answer is KIT CARS are exempt from emissions tests they only get a visual smoke test - great isnt it !!

Hmmmm Yes for an 86 engine 3.5 co and 1200 hydro. However for the Mot only requires No Visible Smoke. But to confuse matters, a roadside check could insist on the 3.5 etc..... Confused, me too!!

I would agree,

3.5% and 1200ppm. And my MOT station insisted on it , but at least now I know it's fine for the SVA!

I had an MOT at the same time as the SVA.

They checked against 3.5 and 1200 for an 88 engine.

pretty sure that pre-july 1986 engines are 4.5%CO and post-july 1986 to 31st july 1992 are 3.5%CO!
