Tie Bars

I recently fitted some tie bars to my s3, Where they are bolted to the sides of the chassis I put some angle on the inside, to provide some extra strenght. The problem that I now have is that the sides are begining to deforme, it looks like the angle is trying to twist and take the floor and sides with it.

Does anyone have any adive on how to stenghten this further?

Speak to Big Jim, pretty sure he has the same Mod on his, think there are even some pics on the NW Hoodie site....

 

I would think you need to put something pretty substantial in there not just angle being used as big washers as the tie bar will be taking a hell of a lot of force when cornering as it trys to stop the body roll...

Richard I have a Mk1 and used 2x2x 1/4 angle about 6" long bolted as shown in this pic if it works.

Thats what i did Peter, but i welded in a couple of webs for extra strength.
