all the cam kits I've looked at seem to cost a lot more than yours
John look in yellow pages under motor factors they sell to trade (independent garages) but will usually sell to walk in customers and are usually on industrial estates we have 4 in Huntingdon

John, I see you are from Reading. I live in Basingstoke and can recomend Camberly Auto Factors. They have a place in Basingstoke. They have let me rumage through their stock several times to find the perfect hose/speedo cable.

Thanks Elwe, Chris.

We have a Cafco in Reading, a Partco, and a few others, and my favourite is Discount motor Spares on the A33.

Just hoped someone could get an even better deal than that !! ( Cos I'm a tightwad )

I am looking for the best deal on an FR30 cam kit,.................

You’ll be lucky you are now looking at specialist suppliers as motor factors normally only supply standard kit.

Hi John,

I didnt think you'd be able to leave it standard for long!!!

I looked all over Kent & Essex & Sussex when I got my FR32, & Rally Design

were easily the cheapest. www.raldes.co.uk

I just looked...FR30 from RALDES £98.

They dont list the full kit with followers & spray bar, but they do stock them

Cheers Bob.

You're right Bob.

I'll be heading in the direction of raldes, thanks for the advice.

PS, Running your 38DGAS at the mo, certainly gives the std setup a new lease.

Cheers

John

Hi John,

If you're running the DGAS now I'd definitely recommend the FR32, rather than the FR30. It will work well with the standard head, and the RHE 4:1, and there is plenty of torque for the 700kgs etc of the Hood.

This was exactly my setup until I put the twin 40s on, & it went extremely well, the DGAS gives added low down punch anyway, which will compensate for any torque lost by the cam.

Call Kent Cams direct, or ask Rally Design for their advice before making up your mind.

Bob.

That setup is essentially what I run (except mine is a Piper 285 which is essentially the same thing...) Not too slow as those following me round Barkston will no doubt testify...

I got 99BHP at the wheels on the rollers at Sanspeed with that setup (approx 125 flywheel), probably if the head had been decked a bit & I'd had a vernier pulley i may have got an extra 10 at the flywheel if I was lucky...
