Sealed Beams - Rattle

Hi

Just fitted my sealed beams to the headlight housings and once I got them seated properly with the outer clamp tightened up fully, they rattle :( :( gotta be missing something obvious ..but dunno what :wacko: Any thoughts guys

Thanks for the input. I think the ring is on the right way round, but I'll experiment. Did think of gluing rubber inside, but wasn't sure if it'd melt :wacko:

For what it's worth, my sealed beams are held nice and tight. However, having used them in anger at night, they are pants. Halogen conversions are required if you intend to venture out at night.

I had the same problem even after switching to halogen units. As mentioned wire pushed in the gap between the lens and clamp then tightening the clamp works fine. B & Q do cheap 1/8"wire cable coated in clear plastic ;) Colin

When i fitted my halogen lights they were loose, i put a bead of silicon round the light. When dry the silicon makes a great "rubber" washer. They have been on over a year without a rattle!

You can get the halogen replacement units from the shows reasonably cheap, think they were only about £10 each when I bought mine.

 

At least twice as bright because they take proper H4 bulbs.
