Water Temp & Oil Presure

I have been trying to fit the original guages that came with the series 3 kit in 1997. The oil presure is ok but i would like to keep the warning light, i know some of you have fitted a Tee piece of some sort, what type and where is a good place to start looking?

Now for the water temp guage that i have, its about as thick as your little finger and about 1 1/2 inches long, i tried to fit it to the blanking plug on the right rear of the block but it is to long and the thread looks too coarse, the pinto temp sender is a skinny thing and the probe i have won't even go in the hole.

To not fit one of the guages means that i will probably have to change the lot, not something i want to do yet.

I got my adapters from ETB instruments - The thread is an NPTF thread..

Thanks Stuart, was that just the oil presure or the water as well.

Both were NPTF threads and came from ETB...

I have an adaptor that I have ordered from Europa sitting infront of me ready to fit. It is designed to take a bulb temperature sender as you mentioned. Have a look in the Europa catalogue. I am fitting it into the 16mm hose that goes around to the inlet manifold because I've got no room in the top hose for it. Price is 21+vat. This is it:

 

 

It takes the standard temp bulb sender. I think 5/8 UNF although there is another size available. The alternative is to get a reducer if you know what size it is.

Andy, I've got one of those. You'll find you need plenty of PTFE tape around the thread of the temperature sender to prevent leaks. Otherwiese works fine - they look nice but a bit pricey!
