right, so i'm almost ready to start her up.

 

I've one wire near the dizzy marked engine sensor. Where does this go? it has a cap type connector, like on the coil.

Sounds like the temp sensor that has a cap type connector and is just above the dissy

does that temperature sensor provide an input for the ECU, or is it just for the gauge? There's also a coolant temperature sensor on the manifold doing that so if this is just for the gauge i'll leave it as it's connected and working ok already.

No it goes direct to the temp gauge. Pin 2 on the Sierra instruments

Got it running today, which was a great feeling!

Had a bit of a sticky idle control valve at first but it freed itself up after a minute or so of running. No real surprise seeing the amount of crap and oil inside the manifold. Now onto the modification of the manifold (and cleaning the insides!)

I've seen several modified plenums that are able to fit under the bonnet. Chris has given me detailed instructions on how to modify it correctly; it appears you didn't have the chamber positioned correctly.
