  1. Thanks for the help guys - as always, much appreciated. I've tried searching on Ebay for the Intermediate shaft - but not having much luck at the moment. Previous owner is a stock car racer so was happy to just weild the angle grinder to anything on this car.
  2. I'm not far from you at all - Rugby, Junction 1 of the M6. I recieved the motor already fitted in the chassis - the previous owner doesn't know its history either, all he did was put some oil down the bores. I haven't even tried to turn it over as I've only had the car for just over a week so don't know what conditon its in. It looks cleanish though and the block has been painted blue (maybe has had a clean up and rebuild?)
  3. As in title - have decided to ditch the crappy 1984 1.6e-max motor from my 2B. I will be looking for a good condition - nice running 2 litre to slot in and connect to the 5 speed box in the next 2-4 weeks or so. I'm happy to spend 18 months getting the chassis nice but I can't be bothered building an engine for it too. So if anybody has something or knows of one coming up for sale soon I'd be very grateful. I'm willing to spend decent money for the right motor (already tuned would be even better) Cheers Tony
  4. Oh yeah - I forgot to add, the previous owner has also removed some of the rear chassis sections with an angle grinder to try and attempt to fit the one piece rear tub! Will get some pictures of that tomorrow night - thankfully he has included the 'hacked off' chassis sections so I may well need to have them rewelded back on.
  5. Cheers again for the replies everyone. Also massive thanks to Jez and Phil for the offers of coming round to have a laugh/look over it for me I'm busy at the moment getting rid of my other 'toys' which are taking up the garage space so I can get the car out of the carport and into it so the car is taking a little bit of a back seat at the moment. I've taken a quick couple of pics of the steering issues. From what I can gather it seems the previous owner has cut the RH supplied UJ connector? He has also fitted a piece of tube to the end of the triangle fitting on the steering shaft. Ideally I think I need a new connector section.
  6. Many thanks for all the replies and great suggestions . Think I'm going to go with the idea of cutting the pedals off and shaping my own from bar as was suggested as that seems the easiest all round. I've also got a problem/query with the steering column connection to the rack jont - so will add some pics of what I've been left with there later, but remaking the pedals will be best to get round that too. Thanks again
  7. Thanks for that Bob, really appreciate the help and offer of a nose at yours. I won't be at Newark I'm afraid, I've got a very young family and a ridiculously miserable wife so no chance of being let off the leash. Looks like I'm going to have to improve the old welding skills after all then. If anybody has a piccy of their pedal box and pedal layout it would be a great help. Cheers Tony
  8. Many thanks for the reply Florin, I'm in Rugby which is a little town in Warwickshire approx 15miles from Coventry. It sounds like you have had to put some serious work into that area - has every 2B owner had to remake their pedal box assy then?
  9. Evening all, Some of you may have seen my first introduction post but for those that didn't I have just taken on a really tatty part built 2B sliding pillar project. The previous owner also bought it part built with the motor/gearbox fitted. He then started putting the internal panels in but told me that the standard panels were rubbish so he has mostly made his own from scrap metal and even a road sign for the gearbox tunnel. Almost every area without exception needs sorting out - but decided to hit the pedal box/steering area first. I have watched the build DVD's (cheers again for those Simon) - but he seemed to gloss over that area very briefly as if they fit brilliantly straight off. Put together the servo and pedal assy etc and offered it up to find there is no way its going to fit. The clutch depresses approx half way before hitting the tunnel and there is no room at all for the accelerator. I thought the tunnel might be too far over but looking at the gap behind to the gearbox it looks about right. I didn't really want to cut/shut/have the pedals rewelded to try and fit as my welding is not the best. Did everybody else have to do this or is there something I'm missing? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Tony
  10. Thanks Richard - We are heading over to the show today with the kids. Looking forward to seeing the other 'hoods' and getting some idea where to start!
  11. It's got a 164 Block. Having done some research I can't seem to find any info on it? Would have thought it would have been 165 block - but its clearly cast 164. I'm assuming this is the rubbish 1.6 E-max motor, but any info you have would be gratefully appreciated.
  12. Evening all, I just wanted to introduce myself to your excellent forum (apologies if this is the wrong section). My name is Tony Edwards from Rugby/Warwickshire and I've just today become the owner of a part built 2B. I've been digging around on here for about 2 weeks since I decided to go for a RH. Have to say -so far the info has been invaluable and I look forward to finding out more and hopefully meeting some of you guys (I'll also become a proper member asap). I watched this RH on Ebay and it went through with no bids surprisingly (guess it may have had something to do with the location and part built state?):- http://www.ebay.co.u...49#ht_90wt_1102 Anyway, I contacted the seller after the auction who was an extremely friendly helpful chap - and we arranged a deal. Got the package (including the 1 piece yellow rear tub) for £900 and delivery to my door at a cost of £200 for the fuel which I consider a bargain as it took him 7 hours to get here today and very probably the same home! It only has a 1.6 pinto at the moment unfortunately but I'm looking to upgrade that asap as I believe these cars are heavy and need at least a 2.0 to get them moving? Quite like the look of those brand new 2.0 twin cams on Ebay for £900ish delivered and may well be investing in a unit soon (unless anyone on here knows any reason why that would be a bad idea)? Had a good look over it tonight after the kids were in bed - but being a total newbie to this game there does seem an awful lot to do. Should keep me nice and busy in the garage anyway so can't complain. Anyway - here are some pics taken tonight in the car port. Look forward to picking your brains soon hopefully :-)
