  1. Thanks for the replies.

I am running 2 relays fir the headlights without issue, although they arent as bright as I'd like. i had issues with the rear fog not working after a period on fixing. Light work fine when i take direct feed frim battery (12v). But when i try to switch relay with headlight feed i get nothing, even though headlights work. Battery is giving out 12.5v which goes into the switches but i seem to have lost 10% when it comes out☹️

I'll try to clean the switches and go from there

  2. Hi all,

Been having issues with wiring (again) and i have a question, hopefully not to stupid.

I have been measuring voltages in/out of the sierra stalks and am getting a reasonable voltage drop. I have measured 12v min supply but the switched output, on lights, of 10.5v. Is this normal or do i have an issue. Ifthis isn't normal what would the likely cause be, dodgy stalks?

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

  3. Thanks for the reply and advice.

I did strip the carbs down last Christmas but will remove all the jets and see what size and if blocked.

Would over sized jets cause the problems of high revs and running rich.

I'll see if any on here has similar set up and see what jetting is

  4. Hi

Been having issues with car and starting when warm, fine from cold. The engine turns fine both hot and cold just does fire, without flooring the accelerator pedal as if flooded.

I have a 2.1l pinto, lumpy cam and twin dellorto.

The engine used to idle ok at 1100 but now is higher around 1400. Checked for air leaks and couldn't see anything obvious.

    Any ideas?

  5. Hi all,

I have a question about the wiring of the stalks from a 1990 sierra whilst I' trying to track down peristaltic drain. I am slightly confused by 2 spade terminals on the top of light/wiper stalk (right hand). The ones in question are on the attached above 56 & 31b2. Only the one above 31b2 is connected and measures 12v without keys in and appears to be connected to ground.

Any help would be appreciated and stop my head hurting from banging it against a brick wall.

  6. Managed to spend a couple of minute on the car. Plugged a build and nothing that I could see. Replaced the fuse and everything seems to be ok and didn't blow.

Is there such a thing as a old fuse or a duff fuse? Looked at the gap of the blown fuse and it was a small gap.

  7. Thanks for the wise words of wisdom Nigel!! Especially as being non electrically minded I understood them😀

I had a 10a fuse originally but I think this popped, which should have made me think. the last fuse that popped was15a I was going to IVA which I forgot about in the excitement of passing.

I am using the standard hazard switch on the steering column for the Sierra. I know when I initially connected the column switches up I did have problems, perhaps they were just hiding instead of gone.

The only other thing I noticed is that the speedo and the clock stopped working. I assume that the clock should be a negligible drain on the battery but I'll disconnect during fault finding.

  8. Hi

Been having issues with battery draining recently. I've also had issues with an optronic ignition going wrong. I turned the hazards on today and only right hand side flashes. After 5 or 6 flashes pops the fuse. Looks like it's the perm live issue? The indicators seems to work fine with ignition on. Only the hazards don't work and pops fuse.

Anybody have any ideas on how to find cure the problem?

  9. Hi all

I'm running a 2l pinto with twin 40s and had issues with an optronic luminition when packed up (miss fired and stopped completely when engine up to temp). I've now replaced with an Accuspark which seems to be running well except for a strange noise. The noise starts when lightly putting foot on acc. Pedal and sounds like high pitched buzzing. When accelerating the noise stops but when up to speed noise starts when speed is constant.

Anyone have any ideas as it not tappets, here's hoping

  10. Enjoyed the 200 miles round trip to the test station. Did scare myself on the way back when I put my foot down to overtake a lorry.

    Could stop grinning for ages.

  11. Following on from above

I have now retired fan and now no interfere on speedo, good news. Bad news nothing is happening with speedo now when moving. Might leave his until after IVA retest as they said that they would only test the emissions ( what i failed on). I think that it might take some time to sort.

  12. Thanks that's great. Luckily this didn't influence the IVA test when it reared its head for the first time.

Yet again great advice which reminds me why I'm a member of Rhocar😄😄

  13. Hi all

Seem to be having issues with speedo currently.

Everything works fine until radiator fan kicks in then the needle drops back to position when turned off. When I turn off ignition the speedo then seem to spring into life briefly then drop back to 0. Another thing that happens is that the bright 6 warning lights come on and then fade out? Could this be that the fan is acting like a generator when running down?

Any ideas, as I am scratching my head. The rad fan goes through a relay.

  14. Hi all,

I am just thinking about getting to the IVA test as the paperwork has been sent to get a date.

Can I drive to the test the night before as I have opted for a morning test slot? or am I only within the law on the day of the test?
