  1. Car will only start if the throttle is applied. carbs are bolted tight against the plastic spacers / O rings. under 2500 rpm it will stall straight away.
  2. Problem is I need to get it good enough to drive to rolling road.
  3. I am at my almost at the stage to ripped off my weber DCOE 40'sand sell them and go to bike carbs.... I have a 2.0 pinto slightly bored out fast road cam and ported head. 32mm Choke F16 Emulsion tubes 145 Main jet 180 Air corrector 45F9 idle jet Malpasi fuel regulator set at 3.5 psi I had a old school mechanic look at it yesterday and he dialled in the cam shaft. He got it running better than I could but it still will not tick over unless at 2,500rmp The idle mixture adjustment has little affect. If we cover part of the air inlets the revs increases Dose this mean my main jets are too small?
  4. Thanks for the reply Richy, I did have bike carbs on my car when I bought it..... I stupidly sold them and bought the webers...... Kicking myself. I think I need to try a bit more on the webers before giving up. Going to do a new thread to see if someone can help.
  5. I know This question has been asked a number of times but what is best Weber’s or bike carbs or even throttle bodies????? I have been struggling to set up my twin Weber dcoe 40’s and I am at the point of giving up and maybe go to bike carbs instead? any advise for the best route would be appreciated. Tony
  6. Thanks Blue, I can't get it to stay running at any rpm so balancing the carbs is not possible. I have found a old school mobile mechanic that is good with Webers. He is coming on Friday to sort me out. The plan is to get it running good enough so I can drive it to a rolling road to set it up properly.
  7. On starting I don’t touch the cold start. Pump the throttle 4 times and she will fire up first time. I then have to keep moving the throttle as if I keep it at any one position it will stall. It will not idle unless I move the cold start and it will then idle?
  8. Sorry my lingo is not brilliant on the Weber’s. When I say the chokes I meant the cold start levers. I have been adjusted the idle screw from the body of the carb to the lever. when running I can’t keep the throttle in one place I have to keep tweaking the throttle to keep it running.
  9. Got it running it was the idle screw tuned in to far. Just can’t get it to idle. If I open the chokes it will idle????? Wishing I kept my bike carbs.....
  10. Having issues with my newly rebuilt pinto. I have had the engine running and now it will not start or even try to fire. I have a spark on all spark plugs. The plugs are wet and smell of petrol. I have checked the timing. Yes f I use easy start it dose try to fire? any ideas.
  11. I have just bought one as the Duck says it takes some fitting due to the roll bar it dose look ok once fitted. The only down side is there is no boot lid so the lovely rolled over edge stops at the roll bar and then you have to make the boot lid. The price is cheap for this but why don’t they charge you more and make this a complete kit?

  14. I have a 2.0 pinto with twin Weber 40 dcoe and have a facet cube fueL pump. I hate the noise from it. Is there another low pressure fuel Pump that is quite running that anyone can recommend. On another point dose the fuel pump need to be very close to the fuel tank? regards Tony

  16. Load resistors have done the job £8.99 from Amazon. All working ok. Thanks for all the advice. Have a good Christmas and new year members...... And hopefully we can get some meets next year. Tony

  18. I have ordered the correct relay for the flasher. the issue is the main beam coming on with side lights and this only happens on the passengers side?
  19. I have got a little way with this. I think it is the LED lights that I have fitted..... I installed the original bulb and it dose not light up on side lights? I still have problems with the indicators. Has anybody else fitted LED lights and had problems?
  20. My car was all working ok before I touched it...... Started to put the wiring back which I did label every wire. when I put on my side lights the passenger main beam comes on. When I move it to the second position to dip the main beam on the passenger side goes out. if the indicators are on for the drivers side and it on side lights it stops the indicators? The main beam warning light when I connect this the main beam dims a little. I have been on this all day yesterday and today and I am out of ideas. please help!
  21. Dave Andrews write up is very well done. I was checking the jets to see what was in there and guess what..... no idle jets..... I have ordered them and will try again.
  22. I have got my Webers on the rebuilt 2.0 Pinto engine and it will starts ok but I cannot get it to idle. If I keep moving the throttle it will keep running soon as I let go it stalls. I have adjusted the idle screw but makes not difference. Any Ideas......

  24. The weather was good today so got the Weber’s fitted. The guy who bought them new could not get them running. The 4 mixture screws are missing. needs tinkering but she runs.
