ok i have had a piece of hose in each trumpet we'll call the carbs trumpets 1/2/3/4 starting from nosecone end. ok no 1. no noticable weird stuff slight drumming occasionally no 2. distinct drumming sound like a tight drum being hit in time with firing no 3. nice and smooth no 4. nice and smooth now the reason i fitted a weber linkage was because the old one snapped and the whole butterfly assembly spun right round inside. i guess the carbs are knackered. oh and it wont run that well under load like its to do with fueling not eletrical.

im going to open a post in engine forum because i have some weird stuff going on.......

hm hahaha i had thought of the hose method but i've not had a lot of expirience at doing it so was going to set them with the balancer. what do i listen for with the tube method?

has anyone got a carb balancer in hants/surrey area i can borrow for a drink? regards ed

Well finished today apart from final cutting back of the old wing supports and fitting grommets to them

id challenge anyone to explain why it wasnt boring

yeah i did think of that after bill maybe flatten the tube where it goes under the wing. i'll have to have a conference in my head :gdit:

well we have some brackets again after some confusion over how many bits and what bits i got and didnt get but thats standard RH after all and i still had to moan like an old *bleep* to get the bits here We fitted the dummy strut/brackets today piece of piss really next we have to trim the tube thingies to get them nice and close to the tyres and weld them on. then we are going to try and make some sort of spacer up for mounting the wings so as to avoid chopping the fiberglass around as i've seen on lots of kitcars as it looks shocking. might strip the paint back and repaint all the front end then

i've got some and it looks fine, just got it to replace some that has fallen off my mani, will see how it goes when i try and replace mine.

the multi bend tube should have came with them and i have called RH AGAIN to ask why they didnt come together and they didnt really have much of an explanation as usual. but anyway thanks for the support guys its a great help, i think some people at robin hood genuinely want to help but unfortunately one doesn't know what the other ones thinking. dont worry mich i do alignments for a living

as chris said sounds a bit like bull*bleep* to me.

Well i've spoken to Richard this week about this and he says that the brackets will fit my car. Basically he said that you undo the top balljoint and the pinchbolt on the dummy strut and remove that and these brackets act as the dummy strut and the cycle bracket. What do you make of that Bill?

what retailers sell the mag as the one i used to get it from closed down?

if i dont get the result i should get i will drive up there its only an hour away and they will wish they never *bleep* me about :/ i will never ever deal with RH again once this mess is sorted out

well they would have received the bracket today along with a letter of explanation and a fairly reasonable request to call me to arrange what to do about the mix up....... whats the betting i have to call them next week as i will have heard nothing

hmmm nice best have a read of that. i called RH today and they said "were not sure if we can pay for your postage back to us for the bits we sent your incorrectly....." *sigh*

cheers jim that gives me a much better idea, i have a welder ect just dont feel confident in making symmetrical parts like this haha well see how it goes

they didnt even send the extra tubing that should bolt onto the end of the brackets to mount the wings. oh well they are getting sent back next week and i'll have to get some made up by someone i suppose
