I have a problem with my alternator but mine isnt producing enough power. Car wont start i tried and tested the battery with multimeter and all seems ok. So tried disconnecting the possitive terminal on the battery after jump starting and cut out straight away. The alternator was checked while on the vehicle by a mate who is a mechanic and says its working fine but thinks it could be an alternator for a smaller engined sierra i.e 1.8 which therefor isnt producing enough power to start the car. Is this a possible problem or should all alternator work no matter what amps it is??? Thanks for any comments

found the source of the porblem its the alternator. I hoping it just an earth problem cos it starts somedays but other days not at all and now it wont start at all everyday.

If I get a oil pressure gauge what should it read. Cause my oil pressure gauge read about 60 dunno if that's bad and that's hot cold its a bit less

Hi i have a problem with my oil pressure light. I lights up all the time but when i put the foot down and when i lift off it doesnt go off but dulls down. Has anyone had this problem and what is the cure is it a simple fix or a nightmare? All comments welcome thanks

Just about to fit the isolator switch but is it as simple as cutting the wire in half and putting the switch inbetween the the negative wire i just cut?

100% sure it aint a faulty battery. Im not sure now cos i left the battery attached lastnite and started first time but even if the battery aint draining gonna attach a kill switch in the cabin of the car so i aint taking the bonnet off all the time. My dads mechanic said not to isolate the negative but never said y but it should be ok yeh?

This might be a stupid question but there is two possitive wires coming off the battery and both going to some sort of power thig but what wire do i isolate?Thanks

Dont understand the previous post will it cost alot for an auto electrician to solve the problem or will it take hours or is it a 10 min job Cause i aint to keen on playing about with batterys cause i will likely kill myself lol.

I have had the car for over a week now and just a few wee problems but the main one is annoying me. Already had to buy a new battery but how do i find what is draining the battery cause it only does it when the car has been sitting for a long time so it must be giving power to something constantly when ignition is off. Just thought about it now only thing that runs when engine is off is the fan but turns off after a few mins could it be that still getting power when its off. electrics aint my strong point but is to worth fitting a isolator switch to stop draining the battery cos gets annoying disconnecting the battery everytime i put it in the garage.Any comments welcome Thanks

I noticed it aswell yeh but not bad. I'm sure I could squeeze a few more horses out of it I hear carbs r easier to mod than fuel injection cars is this right?

I bought it was up for £4800 and I said I'll give him £4200. He accepted it was it the same car?? Was it actually the same car

Just read the ad it defo says low torque starter. I dunno I'll give that one a miss. Anyone else got any kit cars up for sale about the 4k mark?
