Can anyone help, i have a series 3B with 2L Pinto & ECU from a 86 sierra with 45's fitted, The problems i have are

1)poor starting when cold

2)misfire if you run at a constant amount of revs when warm

3)A smell of petrol when running

Do i need the carbs balancing or just a engine tune?

I am a new convert to this motoring & need help

Check that you have a distributor with mechanical advance. Don't use the vacuum advance. The units you should have are the ones in the pic below. Its probably worth going over the ignition leads checking their resistance, check you have the right plugs and they are clean and gapped. Then you are on for a rolling road session to get it all set-up properly, particularily the carbs.

You don't say what cam or head mods you have as they will make a difference.

I am in Leeds (west yorkshire) i have looked for a Webber specialist around Leeds, But it appears the only one as now shutdown!.

I dont really want to get a hometune guy from the yellow pages as i have had a bad experience (at cost) a few years ago, unless someone can recommend one.

Dont appear to have the one in your image, The vacum on the distributor

appears below towards the base of the engine block and not on the side?

Graeme, don't worry about minor variations in distributor design just so long as it has bob weights inside and a module like the one shown. Check it all out, 'service the car' as it were, then get it on a rolling road. It will be transformed.

Still got the misfire (Rev Counter jumps on misfire) checked all leads plugs & cap going to replace the ECU with the unit Nigel shows (Need to know what wires from this unit goes where) or does anyone know of a good aftermarket product.
