has onyone fitted a pinto into a superspec...

stated we were fitting pinto when ordering and told the engine mounts were made

to suite..

well tryed dropping the engine in and the sump hits the crossmenmber before the

mounts are anywhere near welded brackets..

the sump cannot be lowered anymore as it is the shallow bit.

any advise gratefully received..

Hmmm, this might be one to bring up with RHE, as that doesn't look like it's going to go... It clearly needs something 2-4 inches thick to go on those welded plates. On the 2B the mounting plates are probably 2-3 inches above the lower chassis rail. Even if that crossmember wasn't there the engine would still be sitting much low low, in the 2B the engine mounts support the engine so that its probably 1 or 2 inches higher than whre it's sitting in the photo. You sure you're not missing any bits from the kit?

From the photos the crossmember doesn't look to be the problem, the engine would sit way too low if it was down on that plate, there must be some kind of extension to lift it, RH probably just forgot to sling them in your kit!

Hi

With the LW I had to make what I can only describe as top hats mounts which are 90mm high so the donut fits on the top, You've just got to make sure you can still fit the bonnet and nose.

There's no way that will work - RHE have definately welded in the wrong type of mount. Here is a picture of the same thing on my 2B. You can't see the cross member from this shot, but it starts at the same height as the 'D' shaped tube under the mount, although it does bend down slightly as it passes under the sump. I had to add the 12mm steel spacer under the mount - it gives me about 5mm clearance under the shallow part of the sump.

I think you need to speak to RHE

Gavin...

Must be a different chassis to the ones supplied with Rover engines as I've not seen that crossmember on any of them.

There is a U-shaped crossmember going across the top of the chassis which supports the engine as the chassis has to be lifted over the engine if you want to take it out

Hi

Yeah I agree with Will - I've not see a lower cross member on the superspec chassis - only a top one. The superspec is a different chassis to the 2B's (or it always used to be). Odd
