Hello all..

I am going to replace my big end conrod bolts with HD ones,

but are there any alternatives from ARP, their bolt sets are £47 +vat from burtons.

Does anyone else make bolts that fit pinto rods.?

What is the max rpm for using std nut and bolt. ? the inj conrods lasts until around 7500 rpm, I want to utilise this as much of this as posible, and so need HD bolts..

but what do that std bolts capable of withstanding..?

any help , much apreciated.

IMO I wouldn't use anything else apart from the ARP ones. I used them in my Cossie and basically you get what you pay for.

I know £47 sounds a lot but then if your going to have the engine rev that high then you want something you can rely on and ARP have the reputation and the reliability...hence the price.

Just think of it as a small expenditure in comparison to one of your std bolts letting go at high RPM...!!!

They aren't half bloody greedy!

I paid £65 for the ARP bolts for the Vauxhall, I was most upset, but thought it better than £00's if I blew the engine with my heavy right foot. (must get that seen to!) :)

Anyway, you only fit them once.

I probably will go with ARP,

but what are the limits for the std bolts. Im going to design a rev limiter, to prevent a big bang and lots of smoke.hehe

but £60 for some bolts is big money..

when std bolts for £1.0 ea

are well. down to the bank

thanks

I had one shear, which caused the other one to be stripped of all thread, wrote off the lovely engine i had been building for best part of a year and it was only sat idling on my drive! :(

If i was travelling at speed i would have been killed for sure! :(

I will def be getting the ARP ones, if not only for piece of mind.

Stu
