One For The Technical Guy's

Hi,

As some of you will know i've modified my distributor as Dave Andrews suggests for use with my FR33 cam. I've been doing a few checks tonight to make sure all is well.

I've tested my advance curve and i'm getting full 40deg advance at 3000 rpm. Static advance is 20 degs.

........oh bugger... just remembered i've not disconnected the vacuum advance when i've tested it!

Does it make that much difference??

The original question was Dave recommends max advance at 3250-3500rpm.... if im getting max advance at 3000rpm am i damaging my engine?? It all seems to run ok.

Cheers,

Jon

note- When reving the engine under no load, youre not gettng full VE, VE is quite low.

Worth testing your new advance under load, take your car out in 3rd/4th get to your 3000rpms, hold your speed steady with left foot braking while you open the throttle fully. Or find a good hill to drive upin 3rd/4th on full throttle and see if you can hear any pinking.
