well I've got a heater and the full hood and sidescreens living in the spare bedroom at home, but it's just not the same to drive with the roof on, I always enjoy driving the hood now whatever the whether and however much it's raining on me, I'm quite happy to get wet but if i had a passenger, some shopping or had to arrive somewhere smartly then it just wouldn't be as much fun, I would love to be able to afford to keep it as a 2nd car but I just can't use it enough while I'm living away from home

The car is yours.

Stand it on blocks and leave it there untill you want it back on the road.

Its paid for after all.

I have had over the years several Escort twincams rs 2000's lotus cortinas

If only I had kept them all ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I'd like to be able to keep it to one side but I'll need another car to run about in which I won't really be able to afford without selling the hood, even if I managed to get something cheap, it would annoy me having the hood and not being able to use it on the road ;) and 3 years not being used properly seems like a very long time :(

As you know, i drive mine to work, and find having the hood on the be quite bearable. You only need it on when it rains, otherwise, wrap up warm if it's cold out.

It seems to me you're wanting to buy a car that's less fun because you're worried you might have to have the hood on and have less fun?

To bring it back on topic:

Try Lancaster Insurance (link to Lancaster Insurance) on 01480 484848.

They are specialists in Classic Insurance I have both of mine insured through them and it costs peanuts.

Howerver I would personally keep the Hood as the rest say, much more street cred at Uni and who cares if it rains.

Hey

Looking at getting Robin Hood kit car next month. Any ballpark figures what my insurance would be. Have done an online quote with Adrian Flux, but to be accuarate I know I need to ring. Im 20, two years full license and NCD. It will be a secon car, summer fun, so not many miles. I have a Skoda Fabia VRS as my main car, which is huge insurance. Any help or suggegstions.

Hi Kev,

I'm 21 but was 20 when I took out insurance with Adrian Flux on a 1.6 litre Robin Hood 2B. I paid about £500 for fully comp, 3000 miles per year and full breakdown cover. I struggled to find other insurers to provide cover for anyone under 23 (or in some cases under 25). Hope that helps.

Edward

P.S. you won't regret buying a RH - they're incredibly fun to drive (particularly when the weather is good)!
