Hi, was wondering if any1 had ever used a Nissan 200SX 2.0ltr turbo as a donor car??

 

Would this be ok to use as a donor??

 

 

What do you all think??

It would be a lot of work, in fact probably only one step easier than a complete scratch build, but it would make an awesome car! Micky Bigthumbs has got hold of (i think) a 2.5 Nissan Turbo engine from something similar, although hasn't got round to fitting it AFAIK. I reckon the best way would be to use the engine and gearbox from the 200SX, get a custom prop and use pretty much everthing else from a Sierra, might have to use a Cossie 7.5" diff to cope with the extra power, would also have to check final drive ratios.

As long as the engine is not to tall and the gearbox fits in the chassis then add a complete cosworth backend and you will have one nice quick car with easy tuning potential.

I think the backend from a Sierra V6 4x4 would also be strong and have LSD.

im thinking of using my 200sx s13 as a donner cars as its all ready highly moded. would you really need to redesign the frame work? maybe well be above my head that.

You'd almost definitely need to do some chassis mods or make up adapters for the engine mounts etc....

 

It's not to be taken lightly.

 

Using a Sierra rear end coupled to Nissan engine & box would be easiest. You're also going to need to work out how to fuel it, might need to go aftermarket injection set-up etc.

fueling, engine mangment (im running a vems ecu now :) ) and wiring, etc.... is what im good at lol so thats not a problem mate. i would like to use s13 hubs as i have some great alloys i would like to use. plus my brake setup is cool too.

Yes trying to fit the Nissan hubs into the Robin Hood suspension set up would be tricky and would definitey require some specialist machining. Nissan engine, box and ancillaires and keep everything else as standard as possible I reckon is the best way to go about it. Even using the brakes would require adaptors to be custom machined.

Don't understand why it will be so much harder?

 

If I started with a complete nissan 200sx donor car then why can't I just use the bits from the nissan as I would a sierra.

 

My S7 doesn't have any mountins or brackets in place as it is now, so either way im gonna have to get something made.

 

This is a complete build from scratch, no parts or anything, just managed to get a manual!!

 

It was just an idea, im trying to think of all different donor cars that I can start with.

Nissan and Ford are two totally different companies with two totally different ways for doing stuff. The car dimensions are both different, the mountings are different, almost everything will be different. It is possible, but you might as well scrap the S7 chassis and start from scratch. e.g. Locost style.

I agree with Mat scrap the S7 and start from scratch. You will have to sauce front uprights as I don’t think the Nissan ones will convert to twin wishbone and for rear uprights I would scratch build them to match whatever suspension you choose i.e. wishbone or multipoint. Doing it this way you will be able to use the Nissan brakes, hubs and wheels and may be able to use the whole transmission train with a shortened propshaft. But this would mean the front and rear wheels may be different but no great problem
