Superspec Inner Boot Panels

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with fitting these? I have a pair of panels that 'in-fill' the space between the edge of the standard tank and rear panel.

Do they screw to the chassis cross bracing that is directly in front of the tank?

Is it best to remove the rear panel for fitting these and cut and adjust the in-fill panels to suit?

Any help/pointers appreciated.

Cheers

Al

Can't Find my pictures of fitting these

But..

1. Fitted with tank and rear panel on.

2. They will fit where they touch typical RH

3. Infilled the gaps with Fibre Glass to seal the gaps and also built inner wheel arches Fibre Glass

4. Sealent sealed the infills to the tank so the whole rear section having built an Ally back panel is now sealed up

Ensures the rear electricts are free from any chance of getting wet..

Hope this makes sense... Will try and take so pics if not but with Carbon Fibre no on not going to be very clear..

Regards

Tony,

If you could get some pics that would be great, but your pointers are concisive if you can't get any pics.

Gavin, nice fabrication and tank, how long did it take to fabricate? This is certainly another option.....

Thanks for the pointers.

hi Al

we are lucky that one of our mates is a bit of a wizzo when it comes to fabricating

or adapting things,

he has metal folders and all sorts of weird pliers/clamps to form metal etc

he has a worshop in his garden with a lathe/linnister and all sorts of funny contraptions

he only does is for a hobby and the more technical it is the more he seems to enjoy it..

took about a day to fabricate the boot.. he just makes templates from cardboard and goes from there..

cheers gavin

Wow Gavin, looks enticing the more I look at it. Guess that if I was to do this sort of thing, now is the time during the original build, although rather than weld in situ, i'd probably bolt it and reinforce the joins with angle, or secure with bolted 20mm returns and sealed with silicon.

Did you use 0.5mm plate? Being a bit cheeky now, but has your mate still got the templates for the boot panels?

Do you know what the tank capacity is?

Sorry for the questions, but as I said the more I look.......

Cheers

its a 30 litre tank so plenty of fuel for the long runs...

i think its 1mm steel as wanted to protect the ally tank from any stray objects..

no sorry he through away the templates..

and to be honest althought the chassis's are jigged they never seem exactly the same...

we are hoping to have a run down to see you in the next month or so

while the weather's still good (fingers crossed)

Gavin, that'd be cool. It's a balmy 29C here at present B)

Shame about the templates, i'll have a go at knocking some up I think. If i'm going to do it, now is the time.

Thanks for the formula Dave.

Cheers

Al
