Starter Motor

On cranking the ignition Ive started to get a horrible grating noise from the starter (either that or a slight delay before cranking) Ive read many previous postings and it seems like it could be the starter gear, or at worse the flywheel.

Just checked the connections and the solenoid end to where all cables go is very loose at the wire end but not the other.

About to strip it all down but would be handy to know if this would be the cause.

yep,

knackered starter! quicker and cheaper to get a recon one from a motor factors.

unless its just the bolts are loose?

Yup! It was the starter, well solenoid. But the problem was intermittent. Wasnt till the

3rd time of dismantling and cleaning that I found it.

Got a recon for£45 that looks brand new and all is wel.

So glad it wasnt the flywheel.
