O/t Computer Problem

Hi all,

 

Bit of a problem with my computer that's got me stumped.

 

I can't view any web pages! I open a browser (be it firefox or IE), it says "connecting to www.rhocar.org ....or wherever, but the page never loads and after a while I get a message saying it failed because the connection timed out.

 

Strange thing is, everything's working (or at least it tells me it is) - I'm connected to my wireless network ok with a really strong signal; the router and the actual internet connection are fine as I'm able to connect using a different computer (the one I'm writing with now). As far as I know I've not made any changes to system settings or anything like that - one minute it was working, the next it wasn't. I've tried resetting the router, but that didn't work, and as I said before the actual internet connection is fine anyway. It seems to be software rather than hardware.

 

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

 

It's an XP based machine, with Linksys router and wireless card.

You haven't got 'Work Offline' checked in the Tools menu have you?

I had exactly the same thing, took me over 5 hours last night to work out what it was.

Grrrr.......should have known it was something to do with those microsoft muppets

 

Ahh well, suppose they're keeping us all 'safe'.
