Hi all :hi:

I have just been on the phone to VOSA Test Station - Southampton (Northam) and spoke to a nice lady who told me that the SVA to IVA date is the 29 April 2009.

However if you want a SVA before 29 April you will need to make an application before 28 February...

Hope this helps some of you out there who are close but not enough...

Mmmmm. "The approval process for affected passenger cars comes in

immediately from 29 April 2009. (Light goods vehicles will remain

under the SVA scheme until 29 October 2011.)"

Don't fit the passenger seat.

Keep the boot area open

Call it a Pick-Up.

Should buy you a bit more time.....

SVA Testing Standards Enquiry IM Foreword

REF No. 21

Details Of Enquiry:

If a seating position is determined by the presence of seat mounting/anchorage

points, and if those points are welded up/blanked off thus removing the seating

position, Is it acceptable to have all the seat belt anchorages/seat belt assemblies still

in place when a large passenger vehicle has had all the rear compartment seats

removed in order for the vehicle to be presented for SVA as a goods vehicle? The

vehicle in question is a Ford Econoline but could also be a Dodge day van. These

vehicles are of the same family of types as existing goods vehicles.

Answer:

For the purposes of the test including seat belt assessments etc. a seating position is

where there is provision for a seat due to the presence of seat anchorage points. If

there is provision to refit the seat it must be included as a seating position. This is

irrespective of any belts that may be fitted.

Recent advice from the DfT has indicated that a vehicle will only be considered a

“van” (and as such subject to the goods vehicle criteria) if it was designed and

constructed principally for the carriage of goods.

The removal of seats will only change the vehicle to a “van” if the vehicle was

originally a “van” ie originally constructed principally as a goods vehicle or it can be

demonstrated that the vehicle has been fully converted to a goods vehicle

specification equivalent to that produced by the manufacturer. If this criteria can be

met, the vehicle will be eligible to test as a goods vehicle.

(Goods vehicles converted to passenger vehicles will not need to meet a specification

of the manufacturer’s but will need to meet the more onerous approval requirements

of a passenger vehicle)

Hi,

Got my SVA test date sent through this week for 24th Feb. This took a lot of chasing and about 3 weeks from application as they are really busy. The SVA guy did tell me though that even if some one has applied, and it has not actually been approved/ SVA date given by 28th February then the application will be cancelled and you will have to re-apply under the IVA rules and costs.

Good luck and keep chasing them, you may just get through in time!

cheers

Terry

Also tried a long time ago

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/repository...%20Vehicles.pdf

Likewise there is a laid down spec for the length of the bed in comparison with cockpit depth and also it needs to be a fully seperated load area. Having spoken to the head of SVA regarding the definition of goods vehicles with regards to a different marque I can assure you it will get thrown out if not primarily a goods vehicle design ( as per the design of vehicle I was discussing )

Price is curently as per the original proposal of £540 ( which ACE fought against ) with a possible small reduction when reviewed . Links to alll info via here
