Side Repeaters

I want to mount my side repeaters on the side of my bonnet and not on the mudgurds like what Richard recommends.

Can I do this without the SVA man telling me off for not watching the 4 videos 3 times, or what??!!

Ive read the SVA manual and it lists all the angles of dangle they must be visible from, but want to be sure before I unleash the drill on my nice stainless bonnet!!

Regards,

Kieran

Hi.

Yes you can fit the indicaters to the side of the bonnet and pass SVA.

Lots have done this.

I fitted mine to the top of the side panels.

Hey Andy

That is a beautifully turned out car. What did you use to get the stainless that clean and shiny and where did you get the louvers? :o

Cheers

Yes it seems a shame to consider selling such a beauty especially after spending so much time and money on getting everything just right !

Still the boss has spoken (and as you may know I am but a humble mouse eek eek)

Anyhow there are some more detailed pics & a full spec at : http://www.asnw18630.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/...k/hood_pics.htm

In answer to your questions the stainless is cleaned using the Betterware product for stainless steel - bit pricy but seems to surpass that cheap screen cleaner I used to use.

The loovres came from Marine Chandlers via the web at;

http://marinestore.co.uk/Merchant2/merchan...&Category_Code=

they were 12 quid each and really do match well with the rest of the bonnet. You do have to be very careful fitting these though DO NOT use an angle grinder to cut out the holes for them - be warned !

I fitted my repeaters to the out side of the wings as recomended in the video.

This was a failer point, as i had two forward facing indicators on each side.

I then moved them back on to the bonnet just forward and below the pillar mounts.

The SVA examiner said that lotus seven replicas are exempt from the 5 degree angle from the body work, but i have not seen this in writing.

Sounds like the SVA peeps cant decide what they want,

shame though if it meas drilling lots of holes in expensive paintwork and nice smooth stainless to satisfy their changing attitudes, prob best to contact them and speak to someone who knows wot they are talking about. you wont go wrong then.

I had a few questions about side repeaters & other bits pre-SVA so I called

the centre I was going to use & spoke direct to one of the testers,

explained the dilemma & he confirmed that he would be satisfied with bonnet

side repeaters.

Best to speak to your own testing centre...thy have the first & last word!!!

rather than anyone in Swansea.
